“For she had eyes and chose me.” William Shakespeare, Othello
Today the consumers have more power than they had before. Why? Social media gives everyone the opportunity to express their feelings and opinions with a brand. According to a global study led by in September 2017, Facebook remains the most popular social media platform with 2061 mil users. Other preferred platforms are:
- YouTube (1500 mil users)
- WhatsApp (1300 mil users)
- WeChat (963 mil users)
- Instagram (700 mil users)
- Twitter (328 mil users)
- Pinterest (200 mil users)
- LinkedIn (106 mil users).
Visual content, more powerful than words
A visual content influences customer’s feelings about brands. In this way, the brands will engage with clients. It means that a video, photo or infographic will no longer be a support role for words, but they will be the stars.
If Shakespeare would write branding, he will deal with the isolation effect. The isolation effect implies that people remember more easy items that are distinctive. Again, this taught companies that they should have a design that is “out of the box” and stands out in the crowd. Let’s look at Coca Cola, for example. Its packaging design reflects the core values of the brand and elevates it. Or you can consider IKEA. It launched in September 2017 the IKEA Place, an augmented reality app. It is revolutionizing the retailing market, but it is also improving customer experience. The customers have now a stronger connection with the brand.
The language of the eye
Next years belong to the brands that are developing a new marketing strategy based on visual content. And successful marketers around the world know that the future belongs to the eye. Their appearance can make the difference between success and failure. Everything, from packaging to online identity must be visual appealing, so it can attract the consumer. Make them choose you. From the first 3 seconds, not 8. Use the power of image and video, because 2018 is coming with this challenge: be digital, be savvy and be unique!
